“I’m a nurse. I should know how to take care of myself!”

That was my mindset for a lot of years. I spent my days (and nights) caring for other people; I knew clinical treatments and understood healthcare. That should translate into an ability to ensure my own health…right?

The problem was, I was exhausted. And I didn’t feel strong. And I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up with my own life.

I’d just come out of a difficult postpartum season with my second son, and I couldn’t seem to find my way back to…well…me. And yet, with everything I was juggling—my babies and husband, my career, my home, my church and community—self-care just felt selfish.

That’s why I was hesitant when I first heard about FASTer Way. I’d tried trendy diets before, only to be left feeling disappointed. Not to mention, all the other things and people in my life felt more important than taking care of myself. How could I fit one more thing into my crazy days?

Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try. Immediately, it was clear that this wasn’t just another weight loss fad. This was a new way of thinking; a way to embrace my current season without forgetting about my own well-being. A way to give myself the fuel and attention I needed to live more fully and feel more present.

My story is not one of major weight loss (although there are plenty of those!); my story is one of major life gains.

As I worked my way toward what I thought was my physical health, I was really impacting my overall health. By learning how to feed and fuel and move my body, I improved my energy, mood and capacity to live my life. As I made it a point to take care of myself, I was better equipped to also take care of my people. Rather than a mom who was running on empty, my boys got to experience a mom who was mothering from a fulfilled, nourished place. It was truly a journey, from the inside out.

So, what do you do when you discover something amazing and life-changing? You tell EVERYONE! And that’s where I am today. I’ve experienced what happens when women are educated, equipped and empowered to change their health and wellness stories, and it’s my mission to help others experience the same. As a Faster Way coach, I rely on my experiences as a nurse and working mom to meet women exactly where they are and provide them with the tools, knowledge and encouragement to get to where they’d like to be.

And then there’s you. Chances are, if you’ve found yourself here, at least a part of my story feels familiar. Maybe you relate to my motherhood journey, or my feelings of overwhelm. Maybe you, too, always felt like you should be able to do it all on your own; that asking for help seemed weak or selfish. Or maybe you’ve tried other “diets” before, and nothing has worked. Wherever you are, chances are I’ve been there, too. But you (like me) have the power to change your story, and it would be my joy to help you do just that. Don’t keep being stuck. Reach out, take the leap, make the change; and let me be your biggest cheerleader!
